DTF Transfer Equipment

Direct to Film printing is a method that rivals Direct to Garment printing (DTG) and allows users to print their logos and/or artwork onto a special type of coated PET film. This film is then used to transfer the printed image onto textiles using a lightweight powder adhesive that can be applied manually or by using an automatic powder shaker to distribute the adhesive evenly across the artwork and film, and with this added step, the transfer process is made possible. SEPS Inks has everything you need to get started.

This coated PET film is manufactured to handle the high temperatures and pressures used from a heat press. Our high-quality printable film works with any desktop or large format DTF printer and is available from SEPS Inks.

DTF Printers and Equipment Bundles (direct to Film) What is DTF? DTF Printers (Direct to Film Printers) are capable of making film transfers to work on cotton, silk, polyester, denim and more. DTF is also referred to as Direct Transfer Film, and it works by printing transfers that are then heat pressed to a variety of garments (and other substrates). There are many fabrics including cotton, nylon, leather, polyester, and 50/50 blends that they can be transferred onto. This is unlike DTG technology which only prints directly on cotton fabrics. This means that this printer works on a much wider substrates, making it the most versatile digital printer in the market. DTF printers work on both light and dark garments and can get the job done without requiring you to press on costly A+B paper, as is the case with the white toner printers. Disclaimer: Very important information. DTF printing, like the DTG printing, is a lot more complex than printing on paper using a regular desktop printer. DTF is not a plug and play solution. You need to be willing to carry out routine maintenance of your printer, go through some trial and error in order to achieve the desired results and be willing to get your hands dirty. If you are not a technical or computer savvy person, DTF is probably not the right garment printing solution for you. While we are more than happy to answer specific questions, we cannot provide a complete training solution for you, for the time being. Video tutorials covering most common problems can usually be found on YouTube. CMYK printing only covers around 70% of the color spectrum. This is why professional photo printers come with 8-12 ink colors. There is only this much you can do with only 4 colors. Please do not expect perfect color reproduction. You will need to be able to tweak your colors both in photoshop and Cadlink in order to achieve the desired results. This takes a lot of knowledge and practice. We won’t be able to do this for you. The printhead is a consumable item. It degrades over time. There are many ways in which you can destroy it. For example leaving the printer to sit idly without printing for a couple of weeks, scratching it during maintenance, delaminating it during the manual cleaning process or mixing different types of ink together without proper flushing. Frequent printing and correct maintenance will prolong your printhead’s life. You will need to be comfortable with maintaining and replacing the printhead when required. Because of the nature of this part, we do not offer any warranty on printheads. We do not warranty on this printers, this is up to the manufacture, and they always exclude the printheads.
